Our long-awaited game jam is here!

 

This coming August, Viva Org is officially back with a Game Jam! Compete solo or in a team for an intense 30 hours to create the ultimate game – a cash prize of $500 is up for grabs! Join us on August 31st at Hotel Urban for a chance to win!

TICKET CATEGORIES:

  1. Jammer (participant): $70 
  2. Viewer (audience): $30
  3. Visitor (audience): Free
    – please note that visitors are excluded from viewer and jammer privileges such as meals and complimentary services.

*BONUS: Any Jammer who buys a ticket before August 18th gets a free Game Jam T-Shirt*
(This bonus is not offered to those acquiring a viewer or visitor pass)

Your day will go as follows:
Saturday, 31st August

8AM: Check-in 

    • Get yourself settled in
    • Meet the other jammers and organise your team
    • Set up your devices 

9AM: The race begins! 

    • Theme is announced and your 30 hours officially starts

(Dinner will be provided) 

Sunday, 1st September 

5PM: Times up! 

    • Time to present your masterpiece to the other jammers
    • Play the game you’ve just created 
    • Our panel will our esteemed winner for the prize!

7PM: Event officially ends.

(Breakfast will be provided)

 

Please note the following:
There will be two rooms for showers (one of which will also be used for sound production). We also have limited sleeping space for those who aren’t night owls. Mats will be provided so if you want to be comfy we recommend bringing your own sleeping bag (or sleeping in the comfort of your own bed)

Game Jams are primarily a BYO computer event, but we do have a limited number of computers on request. Please fill out the form below if you require one:

We recommend taking public transport as there is limited parking at the Hotel. The closets train station is St Leonards, where multiple buses will take you to a bus stop just 4 minutes away from the hotel. There is also street parking along Pacific Highway.

What to bring

  • Pillow
  • Sleeping Bag
  • Necessary devices (Laptops, desktops, tablets etc)
  • Towel
  • Toothbrush

 

So get excited because this is not only an opportunity for you to get hands-on experience in making a game, but it’s a great way to meet new people, make friends and grow your portfolio as a game developer/designer.
